60 apprentices have now undertaken training with Cambria Maintenance Services

Six new apprentices received brand new toolkits and met their mentors as they completed their first few weeks with Cambria Maintenance Services.

Two apprentices each have started in North, South and West Wales, bringing the total number of employees who have joined the Cambria apprenticeship programme to 60 apprentices since its inception.

They will be working alongside experienced members of staff while studying for an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Electro-Technics or Plumbing & Heating or an NVQ Level 2 in Maintenance Operations.

This means that as well as building valuable skills and experience they will be gaining industry-recognised qualifications, boosting their career prospects when they complete their apprenticeships.

Geraint Parry, Head of Maintenance Delivery at Cambria Maintenance Services, said: “We are thrilled to welcome six new apprentices to our team. We pride ourselves on training apprentices who will have the skills and qualifications they need to build their career either inside or outside Cambria at the end of their two or four year training period.

“They are an important part of our workforce and we hope they enjoy their time with us.”

For those who do go on to secure permanent employment with Cambria, trainee roles have more recently been introduced to help support the transition from apprentice to operative.

The trainee roles are a valuable next step, allowing former apprentices to put learning into practice and build more confidence. They work independently, with support only when required from managers.

Cambria apprentices are paid the National Apprentice Wage and receive a starter toolkit, tool allowance, uniform and work mobile phone during their employment.

They spend one day a week studying with a further education provider according to where they are located.

Our partner further education colleges are Coleg Cambria in North Wales, Bridgend College in South Wales and Pembrokeshire College and Coleg Sir Gâr in West Wales.

The remainder of their time is spent working day-to-day at Cambria Maintenance Services, where they receive dedicated support from individual mentors and Wales & West Housing Group’s careers team.
